Join 205 Ocean Ave Studio members, Rosalba Breazeale and Julia Lipner of Triflorum Designs, for an immersive four-hour Cyanotype and Solarfast photogram printing workshop. A photogram is a photographic image made without a camera by placing objects directly onto the surface of a light-sensitive material. Cyanotype is a photographic process that develops Prussian blue when exposed to UV light, while Jacquard Solarfast is a dye-based process that develops in a variety of different colors when exposed to UV light.
During the workshop, Julia will provide locally sourced plant material and introduce participants to designing with plants. Rosalba will discuss ethical harvesting in Maine, demonstrate how to mix cyanotype and solarfast solutions for maximum control over output and guide participants through the process.
Participants will be provided with paper and recycled fabric square, some of which will be pre-coated and some of which participants will coat themselves. By the end of the workshop, everyone will have at least four prints to take home. Rosalba will spend some time at the end discussing print care and additional creative uses for the prints.
All necessary supplies will be provided. A list of optional materials and supplies will be provided upon registration.
