Opening Reception: First Friday, September 4, 5pm-8pm
Closing Reception: TBD
Handprints on the Sky is Raquel P Miller’s first solo-show opening September 4th, 2026 at 205 Ocean Avenue Studios in Portland Maine. Featuring a collection of both ceramic and painted works, Raquel’s body of work plays with new patterns and symbols through her continued exploration of the night sky as an altar for grief. The introduction of new symbols marks this transformative phase in her work and in her relationship to grief.
Artist Bio: Born and adopted from Cuenca, Ecuador, Raquel is an artist living and working in Biddeford, Maine. Through painting and ceramics, she is interested in unearthing the unexpressed and revealing what cannot be seen–exploring emotions, memory, grief and dreams. She received a BA in English with minors in Studio Art and Spanish from the University of Southern Maine in 2017. Residencies and awards include a Haystack BIPOC Fellowship (2022); SPACE Gallery Artist Residency in Portland, Maine (2023, 2025); Indigo Arts Alliance’s Black Seed Studio Residency and David C.
